We would be honored to host Justice Thomas at Stanford Law School. The Stanford Constitutional Law Center, directed by professor Michael McConnell, former judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, regularly hosts members of the judiciary on campus.
Our students and faculty would welcome the opportunity to hear from Justice Thomas and engage with his perspectives on the court, the Constitution and the law.
— A Stanford spokesperson, in comments given to Fox News Digital, responding to remarks made by Justice Clarence Thomas during a forum hosted by the Hoover Institution, a public policy think tank at Stanford University. Thomas suggested that Stanford Law School was among the elite institutions that are effectively “off limits” to conservatives like himself, noting that he has never visited the law school. “You know, I have never been to Stanford Law School,” he said. “Never been. That’s the reality. That’s the world we’re in. Because there’s certain places that are just presumptively off limits. This is the way it works.” Thomas did not say whether he had ever been invited to speak at Stanford Law. Stanford, for its part, made clear that the justice would be welcome.
