More than 300 of the division’s 400-plus attorneys have reportedly left during the past 19 months as its focus shifted from protecting historically marginalized communities to Trump administration priorities like defending gun rights and fighting alleged anti-Christian bias. Rush now leads Democracy Forward’s Red Line for Civil Rights, which tracks and analyzes the administration’s civil rights enforcement efforts.
