Before Weil, The Biggest Collapse In Biglaw History Ended In Criminal Court

Ed. Note: Welcome to our daily feature Trivia Question of the Day!

Today’s news that Weil Gotshal is winding down after 95 years has Biglaw reaching for comparisons — and the obvious one is Dewey & LeBoeuf, whose 2012 implosion remains one of the largest law firm collapses in American history. But Dewey’s downfall didn’t end with a bankruptcy filing: prosecutors went on to charge three of the firm’s top leaders with cooking the books to deceive its lenders and auditors.
